By now you should know that the old slipway at Humewood Beach is one of my favorite landmarks on the Port Elizabeth beachfront. In the old days before the harbour was constructed in the 1930's, boats needing repairs had to sail inbetween the pillars and would then be pulled onto the slipway with a steam driven pully. The area around the pillars is an ideal snorkeling spot if the sea is calm as there are lots of fish species about.
