Then and now from the Donkin Lighthouse

After my last venture up the Donkin Lighthouse, Sue sent me two old pictures that were taken from the lighthouse in the late 1800's. She asked me if I had any pics taken in the same direction to be able to compare. I didn't, but took Chaos Boy to climb the lighthouse on Saturday and took a couple. I am sure that I recognise the rusty roof house in both the old and new pics. There is another one which I'm not 100% sure of, but keeping in mind that the lighthouse's height was increased since the early pics were taken, compare the pics for yourself.

  1. How interesting!!!! going to back to it later in the day when I have more time to study them!!

Having so much difficulty with your other blog - it just won't let me scroll down - see your photo of the dusty road - which is fantastic by the way - on FB profile, go to site ... then can't scroll to read it - I just get lines. I need patience!!!! I think it may be our Telkom as the same thing happens to Marcelle's blog too. Others are OK - weird hey?

  4. Looking at these reminds me what a steep climb it was from the main street up to Central. We used to get off the bus after school down there somewhere and climb what seemed like thousands of steps with our school cases full of books. We must have been fit back then.(69/70)ish.
    Great memories
Question.. Firefly, do the kids still put stickers all over their school cases. We used to.
