St Augustine's Catholic Cathedral at the bottom of Whites Road in the town centre was built from 1861 and consecrated in 1866. The bronze statue of Christ was donated to the church in 1931.
The interior was painted a beautiful peach/saffron and 'gilt' last time I attended mass in 2003 (I moved to Cape Town...). It is truly a beautiful building and is worthy of Cathedral status. My paternal grandmother's side of our family were all baptised and confirmed here - she later grew up in the Nazareth House.
That's a wonderful photo of a heavenly church! We wouldn't mind a look inside the sanctuary through your camera lens....
