Looking up at the roof of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth. The stadium's nickname is The Sunflower due to the petal like look of its roof structure. I know its a bit tongue in cheek, but if you look at it from the outside or above, it also looks a bit like a meringue. But that I say with all the respect in the world, as I am very very proud of our magnificent stadium.

A terrific stadium for the games!
ReplyDeleteWow Firefly;) your link stood out on Skywatch today and I had to come over and visit. What a magnificent stadium and how well you captured it. Thanks for sharing. I trust you're warming up slightly after the freezing weather. I look forward to cold weather when I return to South Africa next month from the hot Sudan. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteThat's a magnificent stadium! I'm enjoying seeing S Africa in the limelight, having lived there once. The sky is, of course, blue!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than to see the blue sky. Great photo and I hope you guys down there do not go deaf from the vuvuzelas!
ReplyDeleteSmiles
Lovely stadium, nicer because its now quieter; no trumpets things blaring.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful. At first I thought it was the sails of a boat...
ReplyDeleteHahahah - yes, I would go for the meringue!! Guess it is not manly & sporty enough though ;) I love our stadium though - so beautiful!
