The municipality has worked very hard to make our beachfront user friendly for all sorts of people. From this viewpoint at the bottom of Admirality Way, you can see the cycle track and raised wooden boardwalk for pedestrians. You can now walk or cycle comfortably all the way from Kings Beach to beyond this point. You can also see the new Radison hotel taking shape on the left of Marine Drive, and the Summer Seas complex which, controversially, replaced the old Summerstrand Hotel, on the right.
It was a great idea to have two paths. One for bicycles and one for walkers. Did you know that the walkway is now called the Humpback Dolphin Trail? Apparently so.
ReplyDeletePE really deserve this, I'm impressed. When will construction of the statue of freedom start. I thought the NMBM would take advantage of the 2010 SWC and accalerate the construction of this statue as it would definately be an econimc generator for the city.
ReplyDeleteThe walking/cycling paths really are an improvement, aren't they? The walk from King's Beach to Something Good was always one of my favourites and they have certainly upgraded it over the years. The Radisson really is an eyesore, isn't it??
ReplyDeleteRadisson developes some nice hotels and I think we have to wait for its completition to call it an eyesore.
ReplyDeletePule believe me the Radisson is ugly - but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have never liked that style of architecture. It reminds me of many of the buildings put up in the 1970's.
ReplyDeleteA-hem, let me add my 2 pennies worth here.... I am not a fan of shiny square oxo cube buildings, but the turquoise glass and clean lines seem appropriate to me, they will reflect the sea and sky around them, and give the big building a "there but not there" look, so I'm with Pule on this one...Suzi-k
