The Old Erica School

One of the earliest schools for girls in PE was the Erica School, which started out in a couple of cottages next to the headmistress' home in Richmond Hill. This lovely building was opened in 1903, on the edge of Richmond Park, with commanding views over the bay. The school eventually outgrew it and moved on, and the building is now used for the art department of one of our colleges offering Tertiary education.

  3. What a lovely shot of an elegant building! Fantastic!

So funny... Years ago, our pastor of our Baptist Church was from Port Elizabeth and the church here in Canada was called Richmond Hill Baptist in the town with the same name!

  4. Pat, what a co-incidence. What was the Pastor's name? .... we used to be baptists years ago so there is a good chance we knew him, or at least have heard of him!

  5. Another gorgeous shot, I love the red roofs and the curvy lines around them...

Your post reminds me of the St. Clare series of books about a boarding school by Enid Blyton, I used to read them and loved them...
