As far as I can remember it now houses a private college, together with the old telephone exchange and a building on the opposite corner in Fleming Street.
I think it was built in the early 1900s of Paarl granite and Coega stone. The parking area between the old GPO and City Hall used to be known as Fleming Square, but i don't know if anyone still calls it that. On it stands the Prestor John Memorial, as seen in another post.
This looks quite Italian. I thought I was on the wrong blog when it opened up! Interesting.
